tactile is free to download and use, at home or at work, for as long as you like. It is not open source. The app, its code, this website, the name tactile, the icon and the pictures are © 2026 Michael (Misha) Ovcharenko, all rights reserved.

So: don't copy, change, resell or redistribute the app or the site, and don't ship something built from them. Sharing a link to this page is always fine.

No warranty

tactile is provided as is, without warranty of any kind, and as far as the law allows, I'm not liable for anything that comes from using it. To keep the sound fast, it sets a small buffer size on your audio output device, which other audio software on that device also sees while tactile is running.

The sounds

Every switch recording is CC0, public domain, MIT or CC BY, and each one is credited to its source on the credits page. Those licences apply to the recordings, and the attribution travels with them.

Names

Cherry, Gateron, Kailh, NovelKeys, Topre, IBM, Alps, Keychron, Smith-Corona and Apple are trademarks of their owners. tactile is not affiliated with or endorsed by any of them; the names say which switch a recording is of.

This website

Look around, play the switches, link to it. Don't copy its design or its pictures, and don't attack it. If these terms change, the date at the top changes with them.
